Community Standards
Code of Conduct
Taverns & Tales is a community built on shared storytelling, mutual respect, and the belief that everyone deserves a place at the table. These principles exist to protect that space for every player, every session.
Respect Everyone at the Table
D&D is a collaborative game. Every person who sits down to play brings something valuable — their imagination, their humor, their willingness to take a chance on a character and a story. That contribution deserves to be treated with respect, full stop.
- Treat all players and DMs with courtesy, whether in character or out.
- Harassment, intimidation, and discriminatory language have no place here — in the game world or the real one.
- Disagreements happen. Resolve them like adults: calmly and privately when possible, and by involving a DM or organizer when needed.
- What happens at the table stays at the table. Respect your fellow players' privacy.
Make Room for Everyone's Story
The best D&D happens when every player feels like they have a real stake in the story. That means actively making space — not just tolerating other players, but genuinely including them.
- Encourage quieter players to contribute. Don't let one character dominate every scene.
- New players are learning — be patient. We were all new once.
- If a player's background, identity, or style of play is different from yours, approach it with curiosity rather than judgment.
- Before introducing story elements that could be distressing, check in with the table. A quick "is everyone comfortable with this?" goes a long way.
Honor the Craft
Our DMs put in real time and creative energy to build worlds worth adventuring in. Players and DMs alike have made a commitment to show up and engage. Honor that investment.
- Show up when you say you will. If you can't make it, give the DM as much notice as possible.
- Be present. Phones down, attention on the table.
- Engage with the story your DM has prepared, even if it doesn't go the direction you expected.
- Give feedback generously and receive it gracefully — we're all trying to make the game better for everyone.
The Spirit of Camaraderie
We're not just here to roll dice — we're here to build something together. Over time, these weekly sessions become a shared history. The moments you remember won't be the critical hits; they'll be the ones where someone had your back, made the whole table laugh, or surprised you with a choice that changed the whole story.
That kind of community is built one Tuesday night at a time, by people who show up with generosity and good faith. We ask that of every player who joins us.
Violations
Organizers and DMs reserve the right to ask anyone who violates this code of conduct to leave the session. Serious or repeated violations may result in removal from the group. We'd rather have that conversation than let bad behavior erode something that a lot of people care about.
If something happens at the table that makes you uncomfortable, tell a DM or organizer. You won't be brushed off.
